SUMMARY OF PERFORMANCE

  FEDERAL AND STATE REQUIREMENTS
A summary of performance generally refers to a summary of the child's academic achievement and functional performance, which will include recommendations on how to assist the child with a disability in meeting the child's postsecondary goals. Citations:
A summary of academic achievement and functional performance must be provided prior to exit from public school for the child who meets one of the following conditions: Citations:
  • GRADUATION with a regular high school diploma; 
Citations:
  • Exceeding the age eligibility for a free appropriate public education;
Citations:
  • GRADUATION and the child's admission, review, and dismissal committee has determined that satisfactory performance on the required end-of-course assessment instruments is not required for graduation; or
Citations:
  • GRADUATION through courses, one or more of which contain modified curriculum that is aligned to the standards applicable to students in general education.

CONSIDERATIONS
The summary of academic and functional performance must consider, as appropriate:

  • The views of the parent;
Citations:
  • The views of the child; and
Citations:
  • Written recommendations from adult service agencies on how to assist the child in meeting postsecondary goals.

EVALUATION AS PART OF SUMMARY OF PERFORMANCE
An evaluation must be included as part of the summary of academic and functional performance for children graduating based on:

  • Completion of the credit requirements for graduation under the Foundation High School Program or the Minimum High School Program through courses, one or more of which contain modified curriculum; 
Citations:
  • Satisfactory performance on required end-of-course assessment instruments, unless the admission, review and dismissal committee has determined that satisfactory performance on the required end-of-course assessment instruments is not necessary for graduation; and
Citations:
  • Completion of the individualized education program as well as compliance with the GRADUATION framework.
